Knife attack threats a few days after the attack in Magdeburg
German police took the threat of an attack in Bremerhaven very seriously, especially after a terrorist attack in Magdeburg. A 50-year-old man, Taleb A., drove a car into a crowd at the Christmas market there.
A total of 5 people were killed in the attack. Over 200 were injured, many seriously. Authorities reported that the assailant, originally from Saudi Arabia, had been in Germany for 20 years and was a respected doctor. The dpa agency reported that the man described himself as "anti-Islamist" and "anti-immigrant".
"Bild" meanwhile reported that Taleb A. repeatedly emphasized his support for the far-right Alternative for Germany.
