Chicken broth reigns supreme in almost every household for a reason. Not only does it taste great, but it also has many health benefits. However, most of us add a vegetable to it that can be very harmful.

Chicken broth served on Sunday? In many homes, it’s almost a tradition. Of course, we can use it the next day to enjoy another soup. It is an excellent base for, among others, tomato soup and cucumber soup. But how do you prepare it to make it tasty and healthy? You need to remember one thing.

Under no circumstances add this to the chicken broth

Each of us has our own way of preparing homemade chicken broth. We use different types of meat and vegetables, which can be added raw or roasted. Typically, these include parsnip, root celery, and leek. Additionally, parsley and a quarter of Savoy cabbage are often used.

For many people, onion is also an obligatory ingredient of chicken broth. For generations, we have been convinced that it should be scorched before being added to the soup. This is a huge mistake.

According to nutritionist El-Helou from the National Institute of Public Health – National Research Institute, when burnt onions are added to chicken broth, harmful chemicals such as acrylamide can seep into the meal. Over time, this compound builds up in the body and may interfere with normal nervous system function, as mentioned in an interview with the poradnizdrowie.pl portal.

This does not mean, however, that we should completely give up onion in the broth. In this case, it's worth adding raw and unpeeled after washing.

Why is it worth eating chicken broth?

It's no secret that chicken broth is very healthy. That's why we often prepare it when one of our loved ones is sick. After all, it contains many vitamins and minerals.

Furthermore, it not only warms you up but also has anti-inflammatory properties. It supports the immune system and the digestive processes taking place in the body. Not everyone knows that chicken broth can also moisturize mucous membranes, thus relieving symptoms of a runny nose and cough.
