The horrifying events, reminiscent of a horror movie, unfolded on a bridge in Toronto when a group of friends driving a Tesla was involved in a road accident and collided with the barrier.

Following the impact, smoke began to fill the car, and the Tesla doors locked, preventing escape the vehicle. One of the passengers was saved by Rick Harper, a Canadian postal worker. He broke the car windows, allowing the woman to escape from the fire and smoke.

I would assume the young lady would have tried to open the door from the inside, because she was pretty desperate to get out. I don't know if that was the battery or what. But she couldn't get out - the man explained in local media.

He explained that he couldn't see the other victims in the car due to the heavy smoke inside the vehicle.

According to fire safety experts, the door malfunction was caused by a battery failure resulting from the impact. Calgary Fire Captain Randy Schmitz explained that electric car doors need power to operate.

Certainly the intensity of the fire is directly linked to the battery cells in the Tesla - said Jim Jessop, Deputy Fire Chief.

In the accident, four friends lost their lives: 25-year-old Neelraj Gohil, his sister Ketaba Gohil (29 years old), Jay Sisodiya, and Digvijay Patel, in the incident in Toronto.
