Does coffee with an egg sound extravagant to you? While it may initially seem strange, the Swedish coffee-making method is gaining popularity among enthusiasts of new flavours and a healthy lifestyle. Combining these two ingredients is more than an unconventional experiment; it's a drink that brings exceptional health benefits and intense stimulation. Swedish coffee helps reduce love handles and positively affects brain function, supporting concentration and memory.

Swedish coffee – How did this extraordinary drink come about?

The history of Swedish coffee goes back many years. Swedes, known for their love of coffee, sought to enhance its flavour and properties. The addition of an egg proved to be the perfect solution. The yolk enriches the drink with fats, making the coffee creamier and more delicate. The egg white acts as a natural filter, absorbing bitterness and impurities.

What are the benefits of drinking Swedish coffee?

  • Improved concentration and memory: Caffeine in coffee stimulates the nervous system, improving concentration and memory retention.
  • Liver support: The protein in the egg helps cleanse the liver, reducing the risk of liver fattening.
  • Cholesterol reduction: Regular consumption of Swedish coffee can help lower levels of bad cholesterol in the blood.
  • Immune system boost: Eggs are rich in vitamins and minerals that support the immune system.
  • Improved digestion: Swedish coffee can positively affect the digestive system, aiding digestion.

Swedish coffee recipe

Preparing Swedish coffee is easier than it might seem. With just a few ingredients and a bit of patience, you can enjoy a unique drink with a distinctive taste.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of ground coffee,
  • 1 egg (including the shell),
  • 1 cup (250 mL) of water.

Preparation method:

  1. Rinse the egg with boiling water to remove any bacteria from the shell surface.
  2. In a bowl, crack the egg and mix it thoroughly with the ground coffee. Crush the shell into small pieces and add it to the mixture.
  3. In a small saucepan, boil the water. Reduce the heat and add the egg and coffee mixture. Cook for about 3 minutes until the grounds begin to clump together and rise to the surface.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add a splash of cold water to expedite the grounds settling at the bottom. After a few minutes, strain the drink through a sieve.
  5. Pour the ready coffee into a cup and serve without additives or with a dash of milk if you prefer a milder taste.

Swedish coffee is an excellent choice if you're looking for an original way to start your day and provide your body with valuable nutrients. Although the flavour of this drink might seem unusual at first, you'll surely grow to like it after a few tries. However, remember that while healthy, Swedish coffee should be consumed in moderation.
