A few days ago, the CEO of Stellantis announced that if necessary, they would get rid of unprofitable brands, which sounded quite ominous in light of the losses recorded by Maserati. The company has now issued a statement.

The first half of 2024 was not very successful for Maserati. The Bologna-based brand recorded an adjusted operating loss of $117 million CAD. To make matters worse, the brand's global sales fell by over 50% to just 6,500 units.

Poor results combined with recent announcements by Carlos Tavares have raised questions about Maserati's future. The company quickly responded by issuing a statement denying rumours of a potential sale.

"Stellantis restates unwavering commitment to Maserati's bright future as the unique luxury brand of the 14 Stellantis brands," the statement reads.

At least officially, the company does not intend to eliminate or merge the Maserati brand with other Italian manufacturers. The only question is whether the authorities of Stellantis and Maserati themselves have a plan to emerge from the crisis.
