Simple Halloween cookies
Halloween provides the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and craft sweet monsters in the kitchen. The combination of jam and shortbread is a timeless classic with a delightful Halloween twist that will captivate everyone.
The preparation is quite speedy, but the dough needs to be chilled in the fridge for a few hours. So, it's wise to plan your baking session ahead of time.
Ingredients:
- 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour,
- 1 cup of powdered sugar,
- 1 cup of butter,
- 3 egg yolks,
Additionally:
- 1/2 jar of raspberry jam,
- 1 bar of milk chocolate.
Instructions:
Step 1. Sift the all-purpose flour and powdered sugar onto a countertop or pastry board. Cut the butter into cubes and chop everything together with a knife.
Step 2. Add the egg yolks and knead the dough. Shape it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and place it in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
Step 3. After chilling, roll out the dough, dusting it with flour, and cut out circles using a cup or glass. The dough shouldn't be too thin so you can press shapes into it later.
Step 4. Use your fingers to make indentations for eyes, and make a nose mark with a straw. Transfer the cookies to a baking tray lined with parchment paper, fill the indentations with raspberry jam, and place them in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 10 minutes.
Step 5. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. Dip a skewer stick in the chocolate and draw a smile on the baked cookies. Enjoy!
