Sofia Vergara looked spectacular at the Emmy Awards. The star, nominated for a Netflix series, dazzled in red. It was impossible not to notice her.
Sofia Vergara wasn't nominated for the Emmy Awards, which are the television Oscars, for the first time. The actress was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series" in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 for "Modern Family." This time, however, Vergara celebrated the success of "Griselda." For her performance in this Netflix production, she was nominated for "Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology, or TV Movie." However, the statuette was awarded to Jodie Foster for her role in "True Detective: Night Country."

The actress looked like a million dollars, or maybe more, on the Emmy red carpet. She decided to accentuate her sexy curves with a red dress by Dolce & Gabbana that revealed her neckline. The outfit was completed with earrings from Cartier.
The nomination was a surprise for Vergara. A woman with Latin roots could have won for the first time in this category. Participation in "Griselda" was particularly important for Vergara because it was her first Spanish-language production. "To be honest, now that I know what it means to do a drama, comedy is so much easier for you. It's yeah, it's such a delight to go to the set and be happy and then you go home happy. When you're doing a drama, it takes a toll on you and your mental state. It's exhausting," she commented in an interview with "E! News."
"Griselda" is Vergara's first dramatic role in her career. Let’s recall that the Netflix series told the true story of Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug dealer. Drug abuse, paranoia, and the betrayals of her associates led to her downfall and the tragic deaths of her children. Griselda, trying to save herself, turned to the police, but that didn't end her drama.
"I wanted to challenge myself, because Griselda is such a complex character. She’s not a hero, and many of the things she did were terrible. But there were so many nuances to explore in terms of who she really was—as a cartel leader, a fearless businesswoman, a woman and a mother. That’s not a very usual mix. (...) She was not as famous, but even Pablo Escobar was scared of her!" Vergara commented.
"I never dreamed that after Modern Family I would be able to be a part of something as special as Griselda," added the actress.
