Security concerns halt operations at St. Petersburg airport
Security concerns were the reason for a pause of more than two hours in the operations of Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Reuters reported. The local aviation transportation agency provided information about disruptions at Russia's second-largest airport.
On Saturday morning, a representative of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) wrote on social media that the airport had stopped accepting flights and handling all connections. At the same time, he assured that all services were engaged in providing maximum safety for the airport's users.
After about two and a half hours, Reuters reported—also citing a statement from a representative of Rosaviatsiya—that Pulkovo Airport was once again fully operational.
Drones over Russia
Also on Saturday morning, the authorities of the Leningrad Oblast reported that Russian forces had neutralized an attack by at least four drones near the Gulf of Finland. "We have not recorded any casualties or damage," informed the governor of the oblast, Aleksandr Drozdenko.
In mid-December, two airports in the European part of Russia—in Izhevsk and Kazan—suspended arrivals and departures of airplanes following an attack by Ukrainian drones.
