The sink gets clogged because of leftover food, coffee grounds, and tea leaves. If we wash dishes by hand, we've certainly faced clogged pipes at least once. When we don't clear away the leftovers, old pipes can start causing problems very quickly. It's useful to know that home solutions can be just as effective before reaching for store-bought products.

Many people recommend baking soda. However, other methods can be equally or even more effective. To resolve a clogged sink, all it takes is five tablespoons of a popular spice and boiling water.

Clogged sink? Home remedies can handle the problem

Some use baking soda, others vinegar, to clear a clogged sink. These methods do not always produce the expected results on the first try—sometimes, the process needs to be repeated multiple times. However, these are not the only home methods for handling a crisis situation. This method is not as popular, but it works wonders.

The only thing you need is five tablespoons of plain table salt. Pour the measured portion into the drain and pour about 2 litres of hot water over it. The salt will remove food remnants, dissolve the residue on the inner walls of the pipes, dissolve grease, and thus unclog our kitchen sink. After a few minutes, the water should flow normally, and we have just saved money on special products or a plumber.

If the pipes are really clogged, add half a teaspoon of cinnamon to the salt. After pouring boiling water over the spices, the sink will be unclogged even faster, and unpleasant odours will be eliminated, freshening the pipes.
