The Russians admit that Western missiles are destroying their aircraft, according to the Defense Romania portal. As a result, Moscow plans to prepare special hangars to protect the remaining equipment in their arsenal.

The Russians regularly lose more aircraft. The Ukrainians have almost perfected strikes on enemy airbases—even those hundreds of miles from the front line. Evidence confirming the presence of long-range drones in the Ukrainian arsenal includes strikes on the Engels base. The Russian Federation stores Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers there, among others.

Blows to Russian aviation are significant today, primarily because F-16 fighter jets will soon be delivered to Ukraine. Every lost aircraft in the aggressor's army is a considerable success for the defenders, as it may shortly determine the air superiority of Ukrainian forces.

Strikes on airbases, therefore, continue incessantly. One such attack was carried out last weekend on the Millerovo base in Russia. Satellite images taken after the attack confirm that the Ukrainians hit a hangar (likely containing aircraft parts) and fuel tanks.

In light of these and previous incidents, the Russians themselves admit that Western missiles are destroying their aircraft. As a result, the Russian Federation announced the construction of hangars to protect aircraft in military bases.

Russia admits to problems

"The Russian Ministry of Defence announced the construction of special hangars to protect aircraft. Even the Russian propaganda media reports this," according to Defense Romania. The Russians admit they have problems with the fact that Western weapons used by the Ukrainians are hitting their aircraft.

Defense Romania also mentions a conversation between Russian military analyst Alexander Kots and officials, who confirmed that Moscow will soon launch an extensive program to build special hangars. Their role will be to shield aircraft from drones and missiles. At the same time, the Russians do not disclose details about the construction of these facilities. It is not known precisely when the first structures can be expected at airbases.

Precise Ukrainian weapons

Let us recall that the biggest nightmare for the Russians—as estimated by Defense Romania—may be the precise Storm Shadow/SCALP or ATACMS missiles, known for their high accuracy. The mentioned ATACMS are ballistic missiles with a range of 190 miles. The warhead of a single round weighs about 1,200 lbs, while the entire missile weighs almost 3,750 lbs.

Storm Shadow/SCALP, on the other hand, is a weapon 17 feet long that accelerates to a speed of 620 mph. It can hit targets at a range of 155-250 miles and detonate a 1,000-pound warhead upon impact. This weapon's guidance uses inertial navigation, GPS, and TERPROM. In the final phase of the attack, infrared target identification is activated for precise strikes.
