It's perfect for a snack while watching a game, a movie, or the sunset. In this article, you'll learn how to quickly and easily prepare crispy fava beans that will become a hit in your home.

Roasted fava beans – the perfect snack

Roasted fava beans are an excellent option for anyone who appreciates tasty yet healthy snacks. They are simple to prepare and don’t require many ingredients. You just need oil, garlic, and salt to create something exceptional.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams young fava beans,
  • 4 tablespoons of oil,
  • 2 cloves of garlic,
  • salt to taste.

How to prepare roasted fava beans

Step 1: prepare the fava beans

Start by thoroughly washing the fava beans. Then dry them to remove excess water, preventing oil splatter during frying.

Step 2: dry roasting the fava beans

Heat a skillet over high heat. When it's hot, add the fava beans. Dry roast them for about 2 minutes, shaking the skillet occasionally to heat the beans evenly.

Step 3: frying on medium heat

After two minutes, reduce the heat to medium. Fry the fava beans for another 5 minutes, still not stirring them, but merely shaking the skillet. This ensures that the beans are evenly heated and their skins become crispy.

Step 4: adding garlic and oil

Add finely chopped garlic and oil to the fava beans. Continue frying until the fava beans are browned and their skins are crispy. It's important not to stir the beans, as they are delicate and could easily get damaged.

Step 5: serving the fava beans

Serve the fava beans immediately, ideally while they are hot. They taste best then and impress with their crispiness and garlic aroma.

Why is it worth eating fava beans?

Fava beans are not only delicious but also rich in nutrients. They contain high protein, fibre, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron and magnesium. Regularly consuming fava beans can support heart health, improve digestion, and strengthen the immune system.
