Rising tensions: Rheinmetall's Ukraine venture provokes Kremlin
Dmitry Medvedev reacted to the news about the establishment of a plant in Ukraine where armoured vehicles are to be manufactured and repaired. He posted a threatening message.
Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
The German company Rheinmetall and the Ukrainian state-owned concern Ukroboronprom have opened a joint plant in Ukraine. Armoured vehicles will be manufactured and repaired there, as reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Strategic Industries in mid-October.
Dmitry Medvedev responded to this news. "Germany's Rheinmetall has launched the first of its four weapons manufacturing plants in Ukraine. As promised, we're looking forward to seeing some Russian fireworks on the premises," he wrote on Telegram.
He added a video to the post, showing an explosion.
Meanwhile, the number of Russian sabotage attempts in the West is increasing, targeting, among other things, drinking water sources and airports. However, fearing "escalation," the German government does not take retaliatory actions. In mid-October, the newspaper Die Welt assessed that it is time for the West to repay Russia with the same coin.
The newspaper emphasized that for months there has been a significant increase in the number of Russian acts of sabotage in the West. The article recalled reports of a plot to assassinate the head of the German defence company Rheinmetall and the story of a burning package that was supposed to be loaded onto a plane in Leipzig. The authorities in Berlin suspect that Russia is responsible for these attempted attacks.
