Geraniums are some of the most popular flowers often found on balconies and in gardens. However, they sometimes quickly lose their luster and drop their colorful petals. A quick way to save them is by using a homemade fertilizer. Your neighbors will be green with envy.

Although geraniums originate from South Africa, they quickly acclimated to the climates in Europe and Asia. During the warm months, they can delight in colourful and delicate flowers. Unfortunately, geraniums can lose their charm if we forget a few basic care principles.

How to care for geraniums?

It is essential to place geraniums in a sunny spot. This plant loves a warm position, so after purchasing it, you should set it in the sun as quickly as possible. The second important aspect is proper watering.

When the temperature exceeds 20 degrees Celsius, geraniums should be watered twice daily—in the morning and evening. Remember that it is better to use a smaller amount of water. Geraniums store water, so if you plan a weekend getaway, you don’t need to worry that the plant will wither.

It is good to be mindful of the plant's condition. If you see dry leaves or stems, it is good to remove them as soon as possible. Proper drainage will also help in the care of the roots, preventing them from rotting.
