Pope Francis once again addressed the issue of ongoing wars worldwide. Following many controversial remarks on the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, the Church's head shared his thoughts on the deterrence policy. According to Francis, it represents yet another deceit and failure.

On Saturday, May 11, Pope Francis and believers participated in the Global Meeting on Human Fraternity. This gathering in the Vatican provided a platform to discuss world peace and the continuing arms race between the West and the East. Consequently, the topic of wars was also inescapable.

"War is a defeat" and "a deception", as is the idea of international security based on the deterrent of fear" - Pope Francis expressed during the meeting with attendees.

Here's how, according to the Pope, peace can be established worldwide

Meanwhile, the head of the Catholic Church asserted that "to guarantee lasting peace we need to return to recognizing ourselves in common humanity and placing fraternity at the centre of the life of people". This principle was the focal point of Saturday's meeting in the Vatican. Furthermore, the Pope motivated those present to establish organizations promoting global dialogue.

Only in this way will we be able to develop a model of coexistence capable of giving a future to the human family. Political peace needs peace of hearts, so that people meet in the trust that life always wins over every form of death. - Pope Francis declared.

Among the various outcomes of Saturday's Global Meeting on Human Fraternity were specific suggestions. These included drafting a Charter of Man or a Charter of Humanity. However, for such initiatives to come to fruition, numerous individuals, often working behind the scenes, must tirelessly strive for peace worldwide.
