Plane crash claims life of dirt racing legend Scott Bloomquist

Tragic news has come from the United States. In a plane crash, Scott Bloomquist, one of the greatest Dirt series drivers in history, was killed. Officials are investigating the matter. The athlete was 60 years old, and his small Piper J-3 plane crashed into a barn on a ranch in Tennessee.

The tragedy occurred near Scott Bloomquist's home in Tennessee. His friend Reid Millard, also a well-known racer, informed the public on behalf of the deceased driver's family, issuing a statement on social media.

Scott Bloomquist was a great friend of mine along with a lot of people in the Dirt Late Model Model and racing community. His mother Georgette just called me and wanted me to announce that he lost his life this morning - he wrote.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also confirmed the matter. As reported, the single-engine Piper J-3 plane crashed into a barn on Friday at about 8:50 a.m. Eastern Time on Scott Bloomquist's family farm. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the tragedy.

Scott Bloomquist is dead

Right after the news of Scott Bloomquist's death, posts began to appear on social media in which internet users and the driver's friends bid farewell and wished his family a lot of strength. Brian Carter, CEO of World Racing Group, mentioned some of his contributions to DIRTcar.

Scott Bloomquist’s legendary status not only grew out of his accomplishments on track, but his innovations throughout the dirt late model industry. He played a key role with DIRTcar Racing and the World of Outlaws, helping to rebuild the World of Outlaws Late Models so it could grow into what it’s become today. His influences also helped the evolution of racetracks and chassis over the years. Bloomquist’s passion for the sport and innovative mind will be deeply missed by all - CNN quotes him.
