It is often said that Christian Bale is the king of on-screen transformations, having drastically lost or gained weight for films multiple times. Bale's most dramatic transformation was for the film "The Machinist," which premiered in 2004. He played Trevor Reznik, who suffered from insomnia and hallucinations. The actor weighed just 55 kilograms (121 lbs). Now, according to American press reports, Orlando Bloom has undergone a similarly shocking transformation.

Bloom even scared his fiancée with his transformation

Orlando Bloom, known for his roles in productions such as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Lord of the Rings," underwent a dramatic change, losing almost one-third of his body weight to play the role of a boxer in the upcoming film "The Cut." The actor admitted that the preparation process for the role affected not only his physical condition but also his mental state, which surprised his life partner, singer Katy Perry.

During the Toronto Film Festival, where the film premiered, Bloom shared his experience. - I basically tiered down the food over a three-month period until just before filming, [when] I was at my lightest. I dropped 52 pounds (23 kilograms), and I was about 185 when I started (85 kilograms) - he said in an interview with "Variety." In the last weeks before filming, he was eating only tuna and cucumber.

After watching the film, Katy Perry admitted she needed help to process seeing her partner in such a transformed state.

Caitríona Balfe, Bloom's on-set partner, also highlighted the impact of the actor's transformation on his appearance and well-being. She admitted that he looked like a raisin. Orlando Bloom confessed that during the shoot, he slowly began to regain weight, but the whole process was extremely challenging for him both physically and mentally. He even admitted that at times, he feared for his life. "I literally thought I was going to die," he said.

"The Cut" tells the story of a retired boxer who wants to compete in a championship again. However, to do so, he must drastically lose weight under the supervision of his trainers. Besides Bloom and Balfe, the film also features John Turturro. "The Cut" was displayed for the first time on September 5 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
