Orban skips Trump's inauguration for EU presidency review
Viktor Orban will not participate in Donald Trump's inauguration, reports the Hungarian portal Telex. The Hungarian Prime Minister was one of the few European politicians invited to the ceremony.
Instead of travelling to Washington, the head of the Hungarian government will summarise his country's six-month presidency in the EU Council on January 20 in Budapest. It concluded with the new year. On January 1, Poland took over the EU presidency.
The ceremony will certainly be attended by billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg. Former US President Barack Obama has also confirmed his attendance at the event.
Politicians at Trump's ceremony
A few radically right-wing politicians in Europe, including Briton Nigel Farage, Frenchman Eric Zemmour, Dutchman Geert Wilders, and Belgian Tom Van Grieken, have also announced their presence at the event.
Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is also heading to Washington.
Viktor Orban was one of the first politicians to visit the President-elect when it became clear that Trump would become the 47th President of the United States.
The Hungarian Prime Minister then went to Mar-a-Lago, Trump's residence in Florida.
