'Necessary to Change Balance': Netanyahu on Nasrallah's Killing
- The killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was necessary to change the balance of power in the Middle East, declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He also stated that Nasrallah was a "mass murderer."
Netanyahu emphasized that Nasrallah was "the main driving force of the Iranian axis of evil" and that his killing was essential to change the balance of power in the Middle East.
Netanyahu considered the elimination of Nasrallah a necessary step to "settle scores" with the "mass murderer," responsible for the deaths of many Israelis, Americans, and French.
- Nasrallah was not just any terrorist, he was THE terrorist and he, along with his comrades, was sent to the same place as other architects of the plan to destroy Israel - emphasized Netanyahu.
"If he were alive, he would quickly rebuild Hezbollah's combat capabilities"
The Prime Minister said that he gave the order to kill Nasrallah because his death was a "necessary condition" for achieving Israel's war goals - "the safe return of the northern country's residents to their homes and changing the balance of power in the region for years."
He also stated that if Nasrallah were still alive, he would quickly rebuild Hezbollah's combat capabilities destroyed in recent Israeli airstrikes.
Will there be a ground operation?
The Defence Minister Yoav Gallant's office reported on Saturday evening that there was a briefing on the Israeli military's readiness to "expand offensive operations" on the northern front.
The Israeli armed forces had previously reported that they were preparing for a possible ground operation in southern Lebanon.
In the fall of 2023, after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip, Iranian-backed Hezbollah began regularly shelling northern Israel, prompting strong counterattacks. Since Monday, Israeli air forces have been conducting massive airstrikes on Lebanon. More than 700 people have already died in these strikes, and around half a million Lebanese residents have fled their homes.
Israel emphasizes that the airstrikes are aimed at the infrastructure and fighters of the terrorist Hezbollah, and the goal of the operation is to restore security in the northern part of the country, from which more than 60,000 residents had to flee before the attacks.
