MI6 chief warns Putin's victory would risk Western security
The head of British intelligence, Richard Moore, during his stay at the summit in Paris, warned that ending the current war would mean a victory for Vladimir Putin and a defeat for the entire Western world. He also referenced recent Russian sabotage actions.
Richard Moore, the head of British intelligence MI6, during his Friday address in Paris, warned that Ukraine being subordinated by Vladimir Putin would threaten the security not just of Europe but of the entire Western world. A similar narrative dominated the message of other European politicians as well.
If Putin is allowed to succeed in reducing Ukraine to a vassal state, he will not stop there. Our security – British, French, European and transatlantic – will be jeopardised, said Moore.
He pointed out Russia's "staggeringly reckless campaign of Russian sabotage in Europe," while Putin and his circle resort to nuclear threats to intimidate those who support Ukraine.

Moore emphasized that although the cost of helping Ukraine is known, "the cost of not doing so would be infinitely higher." The Brit made it clear that ending the fighting would allow Russia to catch its breath and prepare for another round of war, which would undoubtedly come:
If Putin succeeds China would weigh the implications, North Korea would be emboldened and Iran would become still more dangerous, warned the head of MI6.
Other world leaders also draw attention to this, fearing that stopping the conflict now would be a victory for Putin. At the same time, this type of rhetoric intensified after Donald Trump won the U.S. elections.
