The residents of the village of Olgovka in the Kursk region have recorded a video in which they complain to Vladimir Putin about the difficulties they are facing after being evacuated. They had to leave their homes after Ukrainian armed forces attacked and occupied part of the Kursk region in Russia.
Russians from the Kursk region are calling for the "ending of this cursed war that has claimed many innocent victims."
"We have been in hell for three months. Where do we turn? Where can we find salvation? We want our children to see a peaceful sky, not constantly hear missile alarms. Look at this situation and listen to the residents of the border areas," say the displaced residents in the recording addressed to Putin. "We do not agree to this of our own free will," they add.
In their appeal to Putin, the Russians complain that they lost their homes as their village was destroyed during the fighting. They emphasize that not everyone can afford to rent an apartment, and the displaced people find it difficult to be employed.
In the recording, they also mention that many villagers have died. Some as a result of the attacks and others because the evacuation was not announced in time.
Ukrainians attacked in the Kursk region
In August, the Ukrainian side attacked Russian border regions, taking control of dozens of villages in the Kursk region. The Ukrainian military claims that the attacks target key Russian military infrastructure. About 33,000 Russians were evacuated from the areas occupied by Kyiv.
The Telegraph reported that Vladimir Putin deployed 50,000 Russian and North Korean soldiers, trying to reclaim Kursk from Ukraine's hands before the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States.
