The American travel agency Florida Panhandle analyzed opinions from nearly 2.4 million tourists. Their findings identified the beach with the most transparent water in the world as a true paradise in Europe.

According to the rankings by Florida Panhandle, Prassa Beach on Kimolos, part of the Cyclades archipelago, took the title - as reported by the Greek Reporter portal.

The clearest water

As reported by Greek media, the beach with the most transparent water in the world is situated on Kimolos in the Aegean Sea. The American company conducting the study found that most beaches rated highest for water clarity by tourists are in Greece.

The distinguished Prassa Beach is in the northeastern part of the island, which has a population of less than a thousand people. The island spans an area of about 36 square kilometres. For years, Kimolos was a poor agricultural island. However, this changed with the influx of tourists in the early 1990s, which became a significant source of income for locals. Visitors are drawn by the paradise-like beaches with crystal-clear water and the authentic Greek climate, which are increasingly complex to find on some islands that tourists overrun.

Other beautiful beaches on the island include Aliki, Mavrospilia, Bonatsa, and Agios Georgios.

Tourism in Greece

Greece's popularity as a tourist destination is growing every year, and statistics back this up. In 2023, the country welcomed over 36 million tourists, marking a 20.8 percent increase from the year before. Attica was the most visited region, but tourists spent the most money on the South Aegean Islands, which also saw the highest number of accommodations booked.
