KFC joins the squid game craze: Spicy wings debut in Spain
Not just McDonald's! Following the success of the Squid Game meal in Japan, a rival fast-food chain has also decided to create its own meal inspired by the Netflix series. What can we enjoy at KFC?
The first season of "Squid Game" was a global sensation. The second season also achieved record viewership, coming with its own share of controversies. The show comprises seven episodes and concludes with a suspenseful cliffhanger. The series' music is trending; fans are generating numerous conspiracy theories and betting on which contestants will survive.
This tale of consumerism, greed, human nature, and violent games has achieved its goal and has become number one again. Ironically, the commercialization that the series seems to critique is now in full swing. You can buy pyjamas in retail stores resembling the Squid Game contestants' tracksuits, and meals inspired by the series appear in restaurants. McDonald's was the first to introduce such a meal related to the Netflix series.
The set is available exclusively in Japan and includes: 10 McNuggets, large or medium fries, a drink, Korean BBQ sauce, and a Dalgona cookie with the M symbol.
KFC introduces the Squid Game set
The American fried chicken giant envied McDonald's and decided to venture into the Squid Game realm as well. Fans of the series (and chicken) in Spain (for now, only in Spain) can savour two items inspired by the show:
- a bucket of spicy wings with Korean BBQ sauce (five, 10, or 12 pieces),
- a burger with an original chicken breast fillet glazed in Korean BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, a mix of cabbage, cucumber, and Red Seed Bread, a distinctive pink bun. Available as a single or double.
Both options can, of course, be ordered in a combo with a drink and fries. The appeal of the meal is enhanced by its packaging, which draws from the aesthetics of the Netflix hit. Isn't it the perfect time for a trip to Spain?
