Jamie Foxx was in the middle of filming a new production for Netflix when he suddenly experienced a "health collapse" and was taken to a hospital in Atlanta. No one knew what was happening with the actor. The family consistently refused to provide information about his condition. However, media reports indicated that Foxx was in terrible shape. Only after a few months did he slowly begin to reveal what had happened, albeit without specifics. "It’s crazy, I couldn’t [walk on stage] six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk," he said at the end of 2023. "I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light," he added.
Jamie Foxx reveals what happened to him
The actor was recorded talking about his harrowing experience to a small group of people he met in Phoenix. "April 11 last year, [I had] a bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything," Foxx said about what happened on April 11, 2023. When he woke up in the hospital, his loved ones told him he was in Atlanta. He was cared for by his sister and daughter. "So, I’m in Atlanta, my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. He said nah, gave me a cortisone shot," the actor recalled.
"Next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there," Foxx said, pointing to his head.
Although he revealed much more this time, he ultimately did not share information about the diagnosis with his fans. He spoke earlier about why he guards information about his condition and the medical complications that arose in April of that year:
"I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me, and trying to figure if I was gonna make it through."
Jamie Foxx returned to work on the Netflix film. It has a significant title - "Back in Action!". The premiere is scheduled for November 15. The production will also feature Cameron Diaz. This will be the first film in 10 years with the actress, who is friends with Foxx off the set. They have acted together in "Any Given Sunday" and "Annie".
