Further attacks on Beirut
This marks the fourth Israeli attack on central Beirut this week. Previous strikes primarily targeted the southern suburbs controlled by Hezbollah. Several commanders from this organization were killed in these operations.
Israel began its offensive against Hezbollah in September, following a year of warfare along the border with Lebanon. The U.S. envoy, Amos Hochstein, after meetings in Beirut and with Israeli leaders, reported progress in the negotiations concerning a ceasefire.
