Israeli airstrike in Damascus kills three, including TV host
As a result of an Israeli airstrike on the Syrian capital, Damascus, three people were killed, including a Syrian television presenter, and nine others were injured. Syrian state media provided this information.
"The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression using warplanes and drones from the side of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, targeting several points in Damascus," reported the official SANA news agency.

Earlier, Syrian state television reported the death of presenter Safa Ahmad, describing her as a martyr who died as a result of the Israeli aggression on the capital Damascus.
Air defence
The SANA agency also added that air defence systems identified and intercepted "hostile targets for the third time that night in the Damascus region." The use of this term, typical for Israeli attacks, was confirmed by the AFP agency.

The Israeli army has been carrying out airstrikes on targets in Syria for many years, mainly on positions of Iran-backed fighters. The intensification of these actions occurred after the Palestinian Hamas attack on Israel, which took place on October 7, 2023.
