Pablo Di Si, president of the Volkswagen brand and the Volkswagen Group in North America, resigned voluntarily, immediately leaving the company. The reasons for this decision are unknown. However, it is not known who will fill the vacancy.

Gerrit Spengler, who currently oversees human resources in Volkswagen's American division, will assume the role of interim leader. He will ultimately be replaced by Dr. Kjell Gruner, who will take over as president on December 12, 2024.

Kjell Gruner has previously been associated with the German company. In the past, he worked for Porsche and left for Rivian in 2023. He will now leave the American brand to return to the parent company. However, his path will still intersect with Rivian, as Volkswagen is steadily investing in the firm.

"We would like to thank Pablo Di Si, who, together with his local team, has made a lasting contribution to strengthening the American regions of our group," said Arno Antlitz, CFO and COO of the VW Group. "In Kjell Gruner, we have brought on board an experienced expert who knows the market and customers very well and will continue to consistently pursue the growth path we have embarked on," he added.
