Indulge without guilt: Lighter baked donuts steal the spotlight

Fat Thursday is slowly approaching, but you can indulge in donuts even now, especially when they aren't as heavy and greasy as the traditionally fried ones. When my friend brought them to work, the plate quickly emptied.

A sweet donut is a delightful addition to coffee that can brighten even the gloomiest morning. While bakeries offer a variety of flavours, the calorie chart can be quite off-putting. However, you can slim down the donuts a bit by opting for a baked version instead of frying them in deep oil.

Baked donuts - Recipe for an afternoon treat

Although calories don't count on Fat Thursday, it's better not to indulge in donuts without restraint on other days of the year. You can try a healthier and lighter version. When my friend brought a plate of these donuts to work, everyone rushed to eat them.

The combination of a crispy crust, fluffy centre, and sweet taste makes them hard to resist. You can enjoy their taste without guilt thanks to the lower calorie content.

Coconut flour has significantly fewer carbohydrates than wheat flour, which translates to a lower glycemic index. Instead of sugar, erythritol is used, reducing the dessert's calorie content.

  • 50 grams coconut flour,
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder,
  • 4 teaspoons erythritol,
  • half a teaspoon of baking soda,
  • a pinch of salt,
  • 4 eggs,
  • 150 millilitres milk,
  • 30 grams butter,
  • dark or milk chocolate,
  • chopped favourite nuts,
  • coconut flakes.

Instructions:

  1. Pour the flour, erythritol, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl and mix.
  2. Add melted butter, crack in the eggs, and pour in the milk. Mix everything thoroughly.
  3. Grease a donut pan. You can also make classic donuts by using muffin pans.
  4. Transfer the batter to the mould.
  5. Place in an oven preheated to 170°C and bake for about 15-17 minutes until the donuts are golden.
  6. After baking, set aside to cool.
  7. Dip the tops of the donuts in melted chocolate, sprinkle with nuts and flakes, and allow the chocolate to harden.

After this, delicious baked donuts are ready. Enjoy!
