A sliding carpet is a nuisance for many households. Just a moment of inattention and the carpet can cause an unfortunate accident for both adults and children. How can it be prevented? A household trick can help.

What to do to prevent the carpet from slipping?

A lack of proper grip allows the carpet to slide easily on the floor. However, this situation can be resolved. User @insidenumber5 showed on her Instagram profile how we can prevent the carpet from causing unpleasant incidents.

All you need is cling film. It's inexpensive and available at practically every grocery store, and it can help tackle this problem. Simply lift a corner of the carpet, remove a piece of film, and place it on the floor. You need to do this so that the film "sticks" to the flooring. As a result, the carpet will stop slipping.

Alternative solutions

One of the simpler tricks is to use a rubber mat. Placing it under the carpet prevents it from moving on the floor, even during heavy use. Compared to more advanced solutions such as tapes or adhesives, rubber mats are easy to use and do not cause damage.

Another effective method worth trying is using plastic grips, available at household goods stores. Their application is simple and effective. Just stick them to the corners of the carpet to keep it in place.

From an ecological perspective, it's worth considering natural waxes. Applying wax to the underside of the carpet helps it adhere to the floor without the need for additional adhesives. A similar effect can be achieved with a non-slip mesh, which can be bought by the metre.
