Dee Dee Blanchard herself struggled with Münchausen syndrome, a psychological disorder where a person induces illness symptoms in another person to gain control over and take care of them.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard was in a relationship with Nicholas for many years, whom she persuaded to murder her mother. Dee Dee Blanchard was killed, and the man is serving a life sentence. Gypsy herself was released from prison after eight years when she married a new suitor. Her marriage to Ryan Scott Anderson ended three months after her release from prison.
