Another update to the Google Maps interface is coming to Android Auto. As reported by the website 9to5Google, some drivers already see refreshed lane assistant graphics. These symbols of arrows indicate which lane to take to reach the correct exit. Previously, the graphics were relatively small and could be unreadable to some.
The refreshed lane assistant graphics in Google Maps are displayed in the same place as before, above the main instruction for the next navigation manoeuvre. However, the arrows representing the lane configuration are now much larger and additionally separated by small dashes, which can help you "count in your head" which lane to occupy to reach the correct exit, especially at multi-lane, complex junctions.
Simultaneously, Google Maps in Android Auto now also features a long-awaited ability to report road incidents. As usual, Google activates these types of features on the server side in phases. As a result, not all drivers can use them immediately. Be patient and ensure that the app is updated (both Google Maps and Android Auto) so you can see the new options in your car as soon as possible.
Reporting road hazards is a feature that appeared on smartphones a few years earlier. The wait time for its implementation in the Google Maps version of Android Auto has undoubtedly been surprising.
