Regularly washing your towels is essential, as they frequently come into contact with moisture and skin, creating an ideal environment for bacteria. To keep them clean and soft, wash towels separately at the temperature recommended by the manufacturer. Typically, this is 60°C, and sometimes as high as 90°C. When washing towels, avoid using fabric softener, as it reduces their absorbency. Also, be careful not to overload the washing machine.

While many are familiar with natural methods like using baking soda or vinegar, some had another trick up their sleeves. This method will leave your towels soft and fragrant, just like those in a luxury hotel.

An old trick with glycerin

Homemakers discovered a simple yet effective method of using glycerin for washing towels. Glycerin, known for its beneficial care properties, acts as a natural softener. It's also inexpensive and readily available in pharmacies. Simply add three tablespoons of glycerin to the washing machine. This product can be used for washing both coloured and white towels.

Towels will be like new

Glycerin creates a gentle protective layer around the fabric fibres, preventing them from becoming hardened. As a result, towels remain soft and retain a fresh scent for longer. Adding glycerin to the wash will make your towels feel as soft as a cloud.

For particularly stubborn stains, it may be helpful to soak towels overnight in a mixture of about 3 litres of water and approximately 2 tablespoons of glycerin. This will help the fabrics regain their freshness and look like new.
