F‑35 showcases versatility with successful road landing

On platform X, on the official account dedicated to the F-35 Lightning II fighters, an interesting video has appeared. It shows the aircraft landing on a road. As Lockheed Martin emphasizes, this proves that the fighter "was created not only with speed and stealth in mind — it is versatile and operates in every environment. The F-35 continues to demonstrate why it is the most advanced fighter jet in the world." What are its most important features?

The ability to land military aircraft on civilian roads is extremely valuable during potential armed conflicts. Airports — especially military ones — are among the first targets for enemy attacks, and keeping aircraft on their runways for too long can result in severe losses. This risk is heightened since their locations are generally known well before any hostilities begin.

The footage published by Lockheed Martin on the official account dedicated to the F-35 Lightning II fighters on platform X shows that the F-35, recognized as one of the most modern fighters in the world, has this capability. The video depicts the pilot approaching for a landing and then gently touching down on one of the roads. You can watch it below:

The F-35 fighter is an advanced 5th-generation machine, equipped with stealth technology that makes it difficult to detect by radar. It can reach a maximum speed of up to Mach 1.8 (about 2,200 km/h) and operate at about 15,000 metres. The F-35 can carry various types of armaments, including GBU guided bombs and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, making it a versatile tool on the battlefield.
