The secret lies in millet groats

Ordinary ground meat patties made from pork are tasty, but adding millet groats turns them into a true delight for the palate. Millet groats make the patties fluffy and juicy and provide the body with valuable nutrients like fibre, protein, and B vitamins. This makes our patties not only delicious but also healthy and nutritious.

Why add millet groats to ground meat patties?

  • Juiciness: Millet groats absorb fat during frying, making the patties juicier and less dry.
  • Lightness: Adding millet groats makes the patties less calorie-dense and more filling.
  • Nutritional value: Millet is rich in fibre, improving digestive function, and in protein, essential for muscle building.
  • Original taste: The combination of ground meat and millet creates an interesting contrast of flavours and aromas.

Recipe for ground meat patties with millet groats

Ingredients:

  • About 300 grams (10.6 oz) of ground meat (preferably pork),
  • About 250 grams (8.8 oz) of cooked millet groats (approximately 1/3 cup uncooked),
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 small onion,
  • Spices: salt, pepper, 1/3 teaspoon turmeric, 1/3 teaspoon sweet paprika, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/3 teaspoon hot paprika,
  • Bread crumbs for coating,
  • Oil for frying.

Preparation method:

  1. Cook the millet groats until soft, following the package instructions. After cooking, set them aside to cool.
  2. Peel and finely chop the onion, then sauté it in a little oil until it becomes delicate in flavour and aroma.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, cooled millet groats, egg, onion, and spices: salt, pepper, turmeric, both paprikas, and oregano. Mix everything thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Form the mixture into patties, flattening them slightly. Coat each patty in bread crumbs to ensure a crispy crust when frying.
  5. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the patties until golden brown on both sides, ensuring they are well-cooked but not dried out. After frying, place them on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.

Ground meat patties with millet groats are a healthy, delicious, and nutritious dish that will surely please the whole family. With additional ingredients like vegetables and spices, you can create many different versions of this dish, surprising your loved ones with new flavours each time.
