Focusing on regular skin care when caring for your feet is essential. Lack of moisture and inappropriate footwear negatively affect the condition of your skin, leading to cracks and calluses.

If you want to use natural methods, baths in water with sea salt or apple cider vinegar can be beneficial. These treatments have antibacterial and softening properties, which effectively support daily care.

When home methods are insufficient, pharmacy products can be useful. Vitamin A ointment, known for its strong moisturizing properties, helps regenerate dry and rough skin. It is recommended to apply it up to three times a day, preferably at night. A less-known solution is cholesterol ointment, which creates a protective layer on the skin, acting like a plaster. What else is effective in foot care?

The skin on the feet should be regularly moisturized with preparations containing urea at the appropriate concentration. The best products contain 5% to 15% urea, which retains water in the epidermis and moisturizes the feet. Avoid creams with acids and products with a high concentration of urea, such as 30%, as they have a drying effect.

Be careful with pumice

Gentle exfoliation of dead skin is key to effectively combating cracked heels. However, remember that excessive use of pumice or foot files can have the opposite effect.

Calluses on the soles should be gently sanded down dry, not wet. It's best to use a paper foot file. However, do not do this daily to avoid stimulating the skin, which can contribute to cracked heels or larger calluses. Sand the heels when necessary, but no more often than once every two weeks.

If none of the tried methods work, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist or podiatrist. Cracks on the heels may be a symptom of various conditions requiring specialist care.
