Corey Comperatore was fatally shot during a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania. President Joe Biden wanted to offer his condolences to the widow. However, the wife of the former firefighter has no intention of answering the phone call from the President of the United States. She emphasized that her husband "wouldn't want me to speak with him."

On Saturday, July 13, there was a tragic attempt on the life of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Although Trump sustained minor injuries, the assailant managed to kill one of the rally participants and seriously injure two others.

The victim of the attack is 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a former firefighter, as well as a devoted husband and father of two children. Corey died while trying to protect his family. His wife, Helen Comperatore, shared her grief in an interview with the American newspaper "New York Post," calling her husband a "hero."

Corey Comperatore lost his life defending his wife and daughter shortly after 20-year-old Thomas Crooks opened fire. As his wife recalls, his last words were: "Get down!"

She won't answer Biden's call

U.S. President Joe Biden tried to offer his condolences to the Comperatore family, but Helen said she didn't want to hear about it. "I don't talk to Biden," she declared in an interview with the "New York Post". She added that she doesn’t want to talk to him because her husband was a fervent Republican and "wouldn't want me to speak with him".

Helen Comperatore emphasized that she harbours no ill will towards the President. "I'm not someone who engages in politics. I support Trump, I vote for him, but I have no ill will towards Biden. He didn't do anything to my husband; it was a vile 20-year-old kid," she said.

Helen revealed that she and her husband fell in love in high school and were on the verge of celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary. However, their marriage was suddenly cut short when Comperatore was shot in the head by a 20-year-old assassin. A doctor on the scene desperately tried to save Comperatore’s life by performing resuscitation.

In an interview with the "New York Post," Helen stated that she would like America to remember Corey as a loving husband. "He was a simple man, who always put his wife and children first," she emphasized.

Internet users organized a fundraiser to support the widow and her children. So far, over 1.5 million Canadian dollars have been collected.
