A clogged drain in the bathroom can happen to anyone. The reasons can vary, with the most common being the accumulation of hair, soap, or mineral deposits. Such build-up causes water to stop flowing freely. The debris can rot in the pipes, leading to unpleasant odours.

We often notice the problem only when the water doesn't drain at all. If we don't act promptly, it may result in an expensive visit from a professional. Regularly maintaining drain flow and reacting to the first signs of clogging are worthwhile. You can also use homemade solutions as preventive measures. Here's one you can easily prepare at home.

An effective method for clogged pipes: you only need three products

Judy Gilroy, a home advice expert, shared her reliable trick for clearing clogged drains online. The influencer chose one of the simplest and most effective methods. The necessary ingredients can be found in the kitchen: baking soda, vinegar, and lemon. A clean cloth will also come in handy.

What do you need to do? It's very simple. Start by pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain, then add two cups of vinegar. It's important to maintain a 1:2 ratio. This combination of ingredients will trigger a chemical reaction (creating abundant foam) that helps dissolve accumulated organic residues and dirt.

Next, cover the drain with a cloth and allow the mixture to work. It takes about 15 minutes. After this time, rinse the drain thoroughly with hot water, preferably boiling water. Finally, add a bit of lemon juice to the sink to release a pleasant scent from the drain. And that's it!

Consistency is key

This natural method is not only effective and efficient but also eco-friendly. It avoids the use of strong chemicals that can damage pipes or harm the environment. You can use the baking soda, vinegar, and lemon mixture preventively once every three months. Regular use of this solution can help keep drains in good condition and minimize the risk of future clogs.
