A rescue team near the summit of Aspe in the western Pyrenees found a British tourist. The man, who was from London, went missing last Monday in the mountains. The Spanish Guardia Civil reported that rescuers found him only on Thursday. Unfortunately, the Briton was deceased.

According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the man was found by three members of the search-and-rescue team, who then contacted the air unit, which transported him to a nearby mountain shelter.

On Monday, around 12:00 PM, the Interpol office in Manchester contacted the Spanish authorities and provided the coordinates of the electronic bracelet the man was wearing. Experts from the French police specializing in mountain rescue also participated in the search for the tourist.

It was determined that the man was walking between the mountain shelters Lizara and Candanchú.

Tourists die in the Spanish Pyrenees. This is another such case

In 2021, the body of 37-year-old Esther Dingley, who had been missing for nearly seven months, was found in the Pyrenees. The French prosecutor leading the investigation into her disappearance stated that during a solo trip through the Pyrenees, she fell from a height of 100 feet (30 metres) and ruled that her death was accidental.

Her last message was a selfie she took at the summit of Pic de Sauvegarde and sent to her partner, Daniel Colegate, in November 2020.

Authorities believe that Dingley, an experienced hiker, slipped and fell down a steep slope near the summit of Port de la Glère, which is 2,297 feet high.

Daniel Colegate did everything he could to find her.
