A nationwide poll conducted by Bendixen & Amandi after Biden's catastrophic debate and shared by Politico showed that Biden has a one-point lead over Trump (43 to 42 percent).
However, the respondents' answers to another question look much worse for Biden.
Among 86 percent of likely voters who watched all or part of the debate, only 29 percent stated that Biden has the mental capabilities and physical stamina to govern for another four-year term, compared to 61 percent who said he does not.
Only 33 percent stated that he should continue to be the Democratic candidate, compared to 52 percent who think he should not.
The poll shows that Vice President Kamala Harris currently leads over Trump, with 42 to 41 percent of the vote. Meanwhile, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the 2016 candidate, slightly outpaces Harris. Clinton leads over Trump 43 to 41 percent.
Voters have serious concerns about President Biden's advanced age, and their concerns only grew after the debate - said Bernand Amandi, an experienced pollster from Miami.
US elections. Joe Biden wrote a letter
In a long letter to Democrats, President Joe Biden stated that it is time for the party to unite and increase its chances of defeating Donald Trump in the fall presidential election.
We have one task. And that is to defeat Donald Trump. We have 42 days until the Democratic Convention and 119 days until the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity regarding the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. The time has come to unite, continue forward as a united party, and defeat Donald Trump - reads the letter published by Biden on platform X.
