The information that an unidentified aerial target entered Ukraine from Belarus was reported by, among others, the Kyiv Post.
As reported, the object was heading south. As a result, an air raid alarm was announced in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions.
Before 9:00 AM Eastern Time, the Ukrainian Air Force conveyed that it was a Yak-130 training-combat aircraft. The information was based on the independent Belarusian Hajun service.
Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, later conveyed on X that the alarm was canceled.
Speculations are emerging on the internet that the Belarusian regime wanted to "test Ukraine's reactions".
Belarusian military on the border with Ukraine
Since August 10, the Armed Forces and Air Force of the Republic of Belarus have been moving to the Homel region, bordering Ukraine. The reason for moving the troops southward was the situation in Ukraine and the Kursk region in Russia.
On August 25, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement directly indicating the threat posed by the presence of the Belarusian army near the borders.
"Any concentration of troops, military objects, and supply routes on Belarusian territory will become legitimate targets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces," was stated in the warning addressed to the regime in Minsk. Ukrainian diplomacy announced that "in the event of Belarus violating Ukraine's state border, Kyiv will take all necessary measures to exercise the right to self-defence."
