Audi keeps it classic: Unveiling the timeless Q5 evolution
Never before has Audi introduced a new model while trying not to change it compared to its predecessor.

Considering the Q5 has been doing well in the market for 15 years, it's no wonder. However, the time has come for the third generation, which remains combustion-powered but brings in technologies we have already seen, for example, in the fully electric Q6 e-tron.
Take the interior, for instance, which is not only dominated by two screens (11.9 and 14.5 inches) but can also be equipped with an additional display just for the passenger. I had the chance to test this design on the road, and I must admit, the most impressive feature is the head-up display on the windshield, which can even point out the correct lane with an arrow when, for example, you are exiting the highway.
Officially, when writing this text, Audi has not (yet) provided the exact dimensions of the new Q5. However, the car seems noticeably more significant, and even the 21-inch wheels seemed "a bit" too small. Audi places a lot of emphasis on lighting—the rear lights span the entire car width and consist of tiny triangles that continuously turn on and off, imitating the flow of molten metal. Additionally, when braking, extra light sources are placed under the spoiler, illuminating the upper part of the window. This is the first such solution in Europe.
It's worth noting that while striving for reduced air resistance, Audi did not give up on classic door handles, and the exhaust tips are genuinely exhaust tips. Customers requested this.
The new platform allows the introduction of a hybrid system. Audi speaks of a "mild" hybrid, but using a 24-horsepower electric motor enables emission-free rolling, for example, in a parking lot or when reversing. The LFP cell has 1.7 kWh, about the same as an average "regular" hybrid.
The choice of power units is limited. Two-litre engines generate 204 horsepower, and gas-powered models optionally have all-wheel drive—this is standard in diesel models. The top version, at least for now, is the SQ5, which boasts a V6 engine. The same situation is found in the already shown A5. This is not surprising—it's the same platform.
