Puff pastry is the greatest ally of busy people and those who don't feel particularly confident in baking. You can prepare it savoury or sweet—there are plenty of options. Combined with custard cream and fresh fruit, it becomes a delicious dessert that even French patisseries would be proud of.
Puff pastry with blueberries
The combination of sweet custard and fresh blueberries is a classic that always works. Add flaky, delicate puff pastry, and it's ready. The preparation boils down to simple steps: cutting shapes from the pastry, baking, preparing the custard, and finally assembling the dessert. This is a great option for experienced sweet lovers and those just starting their baking adventure.
You can replace blueberries with raspberries or currants, whose slightly tart taste will wonderfully balance the sweetness of the other ingredients. It’s simple, quick, and most importantly, delicious.
Ingredients:
- 1 puff pastry
- 125 mL of milk
- 1 vanilla pudding mix
- 500 mL of milk
- 1 egg yolk
Extras:
- 100 grams of American blueberries
Preparation Method:
Step 1. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a countertop. Use a larger bowl to cut out circles. Then, use a smaller bowl to cut out the centres in half of them.
Step 2. Place the rings on the full circles. Brush with beaten egg yolk and place in the oven preheated to 200°C for about 13 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Step 3. Dissolve the pudding mix in 125 mL of milk. Bring the remaining milk to a boil, add the mixture, and heat until the custard forms. Set aside to cool.
Step 4. Take the centres out of the baked and cooled pastries and fill them with custard.
Step 5. Add fresh blueberries and decorate with a mint leaf. Enjoy!
